╰ ☆ he shouldn’t care, he shouldn’t let it bother him. he’d never thought Nancy would want to be with him in the first place and Lonnie had always been a lost cause. but he can’t help the sting of that rejection as it sinks in. he knows the person’s right, why wouldn’t they be? it’s not even like he deserves either of them. he’s done nothing but screw up lately. his dad made sure to tell him that as he was growing up with that familiar disappointed look on his face because he failed at turning Jonathan into a ‘ man ‘.
and Nancy… well, she had Steve, obviously. They loved each other, it was obvious. but even if Nancy wasn’t with Steve, Jonathan knows he could never get someone as amazing as Nancy Wheeler to love him back. He was bad for her, too busy being the mother and father figure to Will while the real mom was trying to keep food on the table and the electricity on.
